What do you do if you’re injured in a car accident in eastern Pennsylvania?

This is obviously nothing you can plan for. One day, you’re perfectly healthy and the next, someone crashes into you completely changing your life.

You need help but where to go? There are plenty of lawyer billboards advertising that they are fighters. Some are and some are not. But regardless of which lawyer you select to help you, you need to do your homework. Here are some tips.

  1. Collect LOTS of information. Collect as much information as possible. Photographs, witness information, the names of the drivers involved in the accident will help you if you decide to file an injury claim. Photograph the damage to your vehicle, the accident scene and even the people involved in the crash. We all have smart phones and videos of the entire scene are best and helpful to your lawyer if you file a claim.
  2. Write down the police officer’s name and information. You should request the police report number.  When you are talking with the police officer, do not admit fault or place blame on the other driver. You may think you were at fault but, after looking at the big picture, that may not be the case. If you were at fault, you can admit to that later. Don’t do this while upset by what occurred.
  3. Go to the doctor. It is important that you see a physician, even if you feel that you were only slightly injured. Sometimes the symptoms of a serious injury do not surface right away, so you don’t want to take any chances. It’s very common that spinal injuries don’t result in pain until at least a day after the accident. Plus, waiting to see a doctor could actually hurt you, if you decide to pursue a personal injury claim.
