National Youth Orchestra of China to Perform in Poconos

On Behalf of | Apr 25, 2017 | Community Events, Firm News, Jerry Geiger |

The National Youth Orchestra of China is on an international tour that will not only feature their performance at Carnegie Hall but also a visit to East Stroudsburg University in July. The Orchestra’s performance will be featured on the NPR program, “From the Top.”

ESU has invited musicians from the Pocono Youth Orchestra (PYO) to participate, which is a great opportunity for our students. The PYO is about to celebrate its 30th Anniversary. Its students are not just from Monroe County but from all over eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey.

Newman Williams Attorney, Jerry Geiger, is President of the PYO Board of Directors and three Newman Williams attorneys have children who perform in the orchestra. Jerry is an oboe alumnus of the Young People’s Philharmonic in the Lehigh Valley and is passionate about promoting this opportunity for young people in Monroe County.

Stay tuned for more information about this historic tour of the U.S. and China by NYO-China.
