We are pleased to announce a wonderful opportunity for the Poconos.

NPR’s From the Top with Host Christopher O’Riley, the preeminent showcase for young musicians heard weekly on WRTI and WWFM, will record a radio broadcast at the Smith-McFarland Theater at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania Friday, July 21 at 1 PM.

The popular NPR radio program features the amazing performances and captivating personal stories of extraordinary young classical musicians from across the country.

The taping will feature the international debut of the National Youth Orchestra of China. Under the baton of Ludovic Morlot, the program will also include an entertaining mix of interviews, personal stories, full orchestra, and chamber music performances showcasing the inspiring members of the 2017 orchestra in its international debut.

This program will broadcast on stations nationwide and by podcast the week of November 13, 2017.

After the orchestra’s performance at ESU, they will travel to NYC for their Carnegie Hall debut on 7/22.

PYO president and Newman Williams shareholder, Jerry Geiger, advises that PYO musicians will have preference for tickets and an opportunity to socialize with the Chinese students. Sign up now for the concert at: www.esu.edu/theatretickets.

This is a wonderful opportunity for Monroe County students to interact with an international group of musicians.
