Chief Justice Roberts was in Lancaster and Justice Kennedy is in Salzburg

Supreme Court Justices love to travel and who could blame them.

Justice Anthony Kennedy, whose retirement announcement was widely predicted but never came, will be teaching in Salzburg, Austria from July 2 through July 21, 2017, where he teaches a summer program for the McGeorge School of Law of the University of the Pacific.

Salzburg is gorgeous and I understand why he appears there annually. It’s the backdrop for the “Sound of Music” movie and a place I enjoyed spending time as a college student.

Although not quite as exotic, Chief Justice John Roberts was in Lancaster recently at the Lancaster County Convention Center.

He was at a conference, titled “The History & Future of Forensic Science,” attended by 380 judges, attorneys and law clerks, followed by a trip to a Lancaster Barnstormers baseball game.

Lancaster Online reported that, although he didn’t discuss the Trump travel ban or any other cases, he had plenty to say in Lancaster Friday about how he runs the nation’s highest court.

The article on his appearance is at Lancaster Online.
