Newman | Williams Attorney Jerry Geiger, President of the Pocono Youth Orchestra (PYO), announced this week a wonderful opportunity for student musicians in eastern Pennsylvania.

The Ulysses String Quartet will be presenting an Interactive Concert/Demonstration for regional string players at the Stroudsburg Middle School, 200 Mountaineer Drive, Stroudsburg, PA 18360, on April 14, 2018 at 3 p.m.

The program is made possible by the generous contribution of the L’ARCHET Concert Group, which has underwritten the event to commemorate the PYO’s 30th Anniversary. There is no charge for admission.

The Ulysses String Quartet, despite their youth, has received national acclaim. They are the winners of the Grand Prize and the Gold Medal in the Senior String Division of the 2016 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. They also won First Place in the American Prize, and 2nd Prize of the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in 2017.

The L’Archet Concert Group is sponsoring this event to commemorate the PYO’s 30th Anniversary.

But what is not appreciated are the many opportunities for music that are not part of the jazz tradition.

I am so pleased to be President of the PYO when it celebrates its 30th Anniversary. I look forward to providing many more such opportunities for regional student musicians.

The Poconos has always been a vacation destination. Promoting a rich musical heritage is a natural fit in developing our County to be a center for the arts. As our local arts council says, ‘Culture Builds Community.’”
