Attorney Robert Kidwell to be Panelist at Short-Term Rental Conference

On Behalf of | Jun 20, 2018 | Firm News, Real Estate And Zoning, Robert Kidwell |

Attorney Bob Kidwell will be on a panel discussing the most recent Pennsylvania cases on short-term rentals and their potential impact on Pocono vacation homes and residential neighborhoods.

The Short-Term Rental Summit will be held at the Chateau Resort in Tannersville on June 21, 2018 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • What are the overall economic impacts of Vacation Rentals?
  • Who is using Vacation Rentals and what is changing?
  • Why do many restrictions fail, and what regulations will work?
  • What is on the horizon in the Pennsylvania Courts regarding potential restrictions on short-term rentals in residential neighborhoods?

Bob is counsel in a significant short-term rental case before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court entitled Slice of Life v. Hamilton Township.

The Supreme Court agreed to decide whether a purely transient use of a property as part of a commercial short-term vacation rental business is a “permitted use” in a residential zoning district. We expect argument on that case later this year. The court’s ruling could significantly alter the short-term rental business not just in the Poconos but throughout Pennsylvania. The issue to be decided by the Supreme Court is being watched nationwide because such issues are being widely debated throughout the country. Stay tuned to this blog for further updates when the Supreme Court releases its opinion.
